It's a work in progress, pictures and vids as we build. The tires are R6's, 295 is all that will fit on the rear 11's, 245's on the front 9's. JRZ coilovers, MoTec M600, 3.8 RS heads and cams, Rothsport slide induction and on and on...

That is one mean sounding and looking car, looking forward to hearing more updates.

Very cool.
I didn't realize that Cantrell worked on air-cooled 911s. I've heard a lot of people with 996s and 986s recommend him, though.

Cantrell rocks on anything with a motor and wheels. One of the best fabricators I have ever worked with, and there is a LOT of fab'n on this project. His attention to detail is amazing and that's exactly what is required for a project like this. The cup cars go there for a reason...

Very cool. I had the same Style 5 rims on my M6....that is a really great motor by the way, ITBs, decent cam, miles of torque, straight six...3.6?....sad to see that M5 give up it's motor. CS is a great car too....mine was a DD but it was just too old and pretty to get beaten on every day. Now restored and in someone's museum. The coupes and 5s are the only real BMWs in my mind.

Very nice. What's the thought about exhaust heat? Some extended heavy-foot driving (like a track day session) seems llike it would get the exhaust plenty hot enough to warp your fiberglass rear bumper? I know my 3.2 would get the rear bumper plenty hot, too hot to touch, with a modified smaller muffler that was much further from the bumper than your setup.

Lots of NASA heat shield on the bumber and surrounding areas...actually installed today should (I hope) do the trick.

Yes, the M5 is a nice car - shame to chop it up really...but so many projects so little time...it's fate has been relegated to the CS. My plan is to take the entire driveline (motor, gearbox, diff) and have Colin fab it into place and build another Frankenstein. Big brakes, creature comforts inside, the works. I have always loved the CS's body lines. The icing on the cake is the CSL 3.5's were the racing nemisis to the RSR's....So they will share display and the track together once again. Life is good.

I saw that build on Colin's Facebook page. Definitely drool-worthy.

did you shave any weight from the flywheel or clutch assembly.
the slide valves are responsible for some of that nice throttle response, but not all of it. forged rods, forged rockers, balanced internals, lite wrist pins? thanks Bill K
