H4 lights need help
My 82Sc has Bosch H4, so i thought i would upgrade the bulls, bought bulbs from the local parts store, removed the light and found this.
![]() The bulls I bought are 9003/H4, although I am not sure what to do next. Can I just remove everything and put the new bulbs in. Any help would be appreciated. ![]() Thanks,

Looks to me like someone put an H4 glass on an H1 headlight. Take the old bulbs out and see if they are not H1 bulbs. They have little clips that hold the bases in, leave everything else alone.

they do indeed have a small clip on them holding a small bulb. Does that mean H1? Can I retro them to use the H4 bulb?

No you need to use an 2 H1 bulbs. One high one low. It has a different base . You won't get the best light with the H4 glass, but H1 glass is pretty hard to get.

thanks, so I guess its back to the store for bulbs.
Thanks so much for the help. It does lead to another question, why would I have H1 lights in an 82 SC?

There was a recent thread about the improper lens and the resultant lighting. The proper lens will give the optimum brightness/focus for the bulbs, but even the H4 lens will be adequate in regular night driving conditions.
