I just pulled out my old shift bushings. They had completely disintegrated. It appeared that the nylon material had reacted poorly with the lubricant. (I have no idea how long they had been in the car.)
Are the nylon shift bushings intended to be lubricated? If so, with what? Thanks! -Dan

Less brakes, more gas!

I use a lithium based grease. It is not a gooey and thick as the stock grease. Mine were in decent shape after 30 years/100k miles. I figure what ever you put in there they will last at least another 20 years so the next owner can deal with them

Daniel,
I also used lithium grease when I did mine. Are you replacing all of the bushing including in the shift coupler? That made a world of difference in mine. By the way what you are doing to your car is an inspiration and I have been following your progress with interest. I have had my 69 for about 2 years and will hopefully get a formal introduction with the pictures of the restoration up soon. Best of luck with yours Cheers, Kristoph
