Rebuilt Entire Brake System: Rear Right Wheel now locks up first
I recently rebuilt my braking system which included:
1) a new master cylinder 2) All (4) calipers were removed and rebuilt so the the pistons easily slid in and out of the caliper. Used caliper rebuild kits. 3) New pads 4) Bled system which now has a nice firm pedal to it. The brake lines were replaced a few years prior. I now notice that when I apply enough pressure braking to lock the brakes that the right rear wheel locks up first. Anyone have any theories on this and how to address the problem? Thanks |

I had a front brake locking up prematurely once and it turned out to be a corner balance issue...

Did you bed in the pads?

Sounds like the big two in brakes, bedding in and corner ballance. Best checked with scales and try a bunch of high speed stops not locking up the brakes but being pritty agressive. or drive in LA traffic. This is normal.

I did "bed" the pads by making many aggressive stops.

Here is the official way to bed in the brakes, I never actually knew all the details, esp about not coming to a complete stop. StopTech : Balanced Brake Upgrades

i just did a full caliper up-grade
i went through all the bedding etc etc motions and still had a slight front right side pull.. for awhile it drove me nuts till i said "screw it" never the less, little by little and 500 street miles later the pull is almost gone i found this routine very unusual otherwise good luck on going through the after rebuild motions again

Then I would go with option #2- corner balance.
Have you checked the tire pressures?
