Damaged fan
I found that the fan on my '77 has a piece missing from one fan blade. Is it OK to use this fan or do I need to get another one?

Be a good time to upgrade to the 11 blade fan I guess. But run it until you find one.

In that case I would just clean up the edges and put it back in. I don't think balance will be an issue. do you have problems with the engine not warming up then? If so something I wish I could run here would be a power pulley which is smaller and slows the fan down and gives you more hp I guess.

Even my 11 blade has the same exact chip. Don't worry about it, just clean and replace.
It is the housing surround that I would worry more about. I am just wondering how the heck does that happen?

In the lower 48 everyone wants to replace their 5 blade. You should be able to find one for a song. Shipping will cost more than the fan. Keep the old one as a backup should you ever crack the new one.
