Al: Here is a shot of my 83 with GTS ST series seats installed.
![]() Great seats, and I'm 6'1 and 240 and change, very good support and GTS is just the best to deal with; Stefan is a really nice guy. And has supported the PCA clubs and events for years. You can see more pic at my garage on pelican. Cheers art agrimmitt@pelican Stefan Schleißing GTS classics, Inc. Wimberley,Texas tel : 702 353 7175 fax: 512 847 5128 |

Art,
Thanks for the pix. I met Stefan at the SEMA show a couple of years ago. He had a display booth and I sat in all of the seats he had on display. Great guy and he does nice work. Right now i have OMP WRC racing seats. They are great, but I'm attempting to find exactly the right seat for my 73 street rod.. I want a sport seat that will also work for daily driving and occasional long(ish) trips. How do you think the GTS ST would work ? Regards, Al

I sent my old seats to Stefan and had him convert them to his PanAm seats. Basically takes the regular seats and builds them into sport seats.
![]() I had them done in a mix of leather, perforated leather and houndstooth. I was originally looking to get the Monte Carlo seats, but Stefan convinced me that these would be the better/more accurate choice based on the year of my car ('79).

John, could possibly comment on how much it cost you to have the seats changed over and covered. They look really good.

Stefan has some new seats he may not have listed yet. One is a club sport style, I do not remember the name but just saw pics of it.
I had him make some custom seats for my 356 as I am large. They fit great and are very comfortable. Driver side as built to size the passenger is stock size. Not a great premium over his regular pricing as he normally builds to order. ![]()

Bob and John, those seats look amazing!
Al, shoot me a PM with your number so we can talk. Stefan is a great guy and does great work. If you need custom seats to fit "American" sizing, he is the man. After seeing Bob and John's seats above, I hate to post a pic of my little ol' seats, but here you go anyway:

Will, those were my old belts installed by the PO. I had the seats made with a fifth hole and later installed Crow five point latch and link restraints.

Yes Al, please get some GTS Monte Carlo seats so I can sit in it.
Scooter I remember sitting in your car but I was not accessing the seating. What seats are those? ST's from GTS? I need/want new buckets as well and now I am paying closer attention =)

Bryan, the seats are ST seats that were worked a little bit by Stefan to fit my body type and specifications.
Al, I left you a voice message.

Omp
Here you go Bryan...............you can try these out. OMP WRC VTR racing seats. I can't believe how comfortable these are, but they are a bit hard core for my daily driver.
Regards, Al ![]()

Ha, thanks Al but those are too 'modern' looking. I could see running those in my S2000 with a full rollbar setup...which is something I have been contemplating...at least before the German joined the fold last week
I have sat in a early version of Stefan's ST seat which apparently narrower than the production seat Stefan makes now. I can attest to that seat being the most comfortable seat I have ever sat in on various stints over a 2000+ mile road trip. That being said, 'jumping' in and out of the car was not easy and the ST seat might be a little aggressive for what you are looking for Al...BUT! My lower back is always aching so I am, imho, a good test subject. Note- Seat/s were 5 point harnesses if I remember correctly so no slouching allowed which might of had something to do with the reduction in back pain? Just more data for your search...

bryan,
the OMPs are seriously nice seats and I like them and will enjoy them while driving with them, but I expect that I will grow weary of the ingress/egress aspects of owning them....and they are not what I envision(ed) for my 911 street rod. If I was planning to race/autocross, I'd hold on to them. I am drawn to the Monte Carlos and The Nurburgrings. Rich Lambert has a pair of those and mentioned that they were very comfortable. regards, Al

You will notice that the shown OMP "shell" type buckets are of the more aggressive style that has the side bolsters come forward to a fairly high and square front edge. Great for a purely racing car, but more of a pain to get in-and-out of as noted.
Other variations of this "style" of seat... like Sparco Evo's or Recaro Pole-Positions are *also* shell type buckets.... but the side bolsters angle down a bit as they go forward. This has the added benefit of not having 2nd gear interference, since their sidebolster height at the front is lower.
