How can someone *not* like WRC ?
WRC rally currently underway.....Mexico..... short clip.
YouTube - WRC 2011 Rally Mexico Day 2 short .....how can you not like this? ...Tarmac rallys have their own character (moderator, feel free to move to OT or wherever, if 911 folks get offended)

I'm hoping this will be on HD theater this year, I don't understand how this is not more popular over here...

You do realize Subaru is just one of the makes that runs WRC - Maybe you are thinking of the Subaru WRX

Subaru bailed on the WRC in 2008.
I remember when WRC was on every sunday, 9-11PM....great way to end the weekend! I haven't followed it since it left Speed, which is a shame. One of my favorite WRC moments...Gilles Panizzi was leading the rally by a comfortable margin..so...

This is great stuff. Sure wish it was more popular in the U.S. I lived in Holland for a year and went to a number of events to watch. Awesome!

Group B was indeed a high water mark, but the lower HP / better chassis modern cars are still plenty fast.....get "air" quite a lot, and frankly, don't look as "wobbly" on their tires as the monster Group B cars. I believe posting overall better times today with only 300 hp or so.
In other words, still quite thrilling. I wouldn't put too much weight on the demise of Group B to "quench" the attraction of modern WRC rallying....

I realize... thanks and I do love to watch, just the noise the subi's makes reminds me of when I was a kid and my old Chevy v8 would get water in the distributor cap...the sound is identical and drive me to drinkin'
wait, maybe I will drink anyhow

That Snijers M3 footage is a classic, and there's still some good historic rallying around these days too. I prefer this to recent WRC and at least you don't know who'll win. There's even some 911 action:

It didn't upset me and I didn't take it badly....many people think there is "nothing" worthwhile after Group B, and all I was saying was "aint so"..... not a biggie.......

I'll repeat what I posted in the thread "When Group B Monsters Roamed the Earth"....
--------------------------------- Even the modern era has its drama.....look here Rally Finland/2005, when competitors got caught-out with the unanticipated severity of the jumps....literally and figuratively "knocking the wind of out you".... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-R15G9nmMo&list=SL See time slots approx 13:50 to 16:28 ( don't skim !! )......then again doctor's prognosis and talk with affected co-driver 17:24 to 19:06, or so. __________________

Impressive first event for BMW/Mini in Italy this weekend! Sordo is sitting in 6th place overall.
