Should This Drop?

While pulling this arm to replace the clutch cable/helper spring, the axle that it was attached to dropped about a centimeter or so when I pulled on the arm.

Should the axle drop like that? I pushed it back up, but it seemed like something to be concerned about.

Dropping is good...sort of.

It's better than my situation was a year or so ago. In my case that little lever was hopelessly siezed to the shaft that ran up into the bell housing ( you called it an axle). I went through considerable pain and anguish liberating hat lever from the sfat. Now I take it off once a year or so and lube it up.

There sould be a snap ring running in a ridge at the bottom end of the shaft. This snap ring holds the lever in place.

So... get your self two grease seals (cheap, but you need to get them from Porsche) and one snap ring. Pull the lever off, clean and lube, reassemble. and snap that ring into place.


You'll be good to go.

Thanks for the tip, but I should clarify. The arm came off just fine.

My question is, the should the shaft move vertically at all? The shaft came down about a centimeter. I just pushed it back up, but should this shaft move?

The shaft will have some up down play. You picture makes it look worse because you don't have the levers pushed onto the shaft all the way.
