Yeah, I figured someone would!

We took our 356 to the Hershey Parade, same car, same class.
First, we bought into all the hype about this being the 50th Parade....the Ultimate Parade. We traveled half way across the country towing our car in an enclosed trailer. Upon arriving, we were directed (with NO alternative) to park in the dirt lot that the race cars were. I tried to explain that I had a Full Concours car in the trailer. Deaf ears. There were other Concours cars parked there and the owners were ready to just leave and go home.
The day of the Concours, I am parked next to the Brumos 934. This is an incredible car, but did not belong in Performance Modified class. It should have been in Historic display. The Judges knew this, but decided to let things be as is and let us Protest after the judging was posted. We overheard the Judges make this decision. The owner just happened to be good friends with one of the Judges. I was, needless to say, pissed. I couldn't believe the Judges didn't have the ba!!$ to step up and do the right thing. Especially at Parade. Naturally the 934 won. Not my style to protest, especially when you have to pay PCA a large fee before you can protest!

Sorry to hear you were treated that way. Just reinforces my comment about pompous judges, it hasn't gotten any better since Hershey.

I got over it pretty quickly when I realized that Concouring, at that level, wasn't fun. Instead of my wife and I having fun doing the shows, we were arguing about little things on the car. All for a stupid trophy. We have a big box full of trophies in the attic!!! Now days, if it ain't fun....I don't do it!

Rob,
Beautiful 356! Sorry to hear about your experience at Hershey. Doesn't make sense to park them in the dirt, does it? I thought I saw pics of cars being judged in a ball room with the wheels off. I think this was the year Porsche introduced the 4 door Panamerica.

Rob,
I very much remember your 356 from Ft. Worth. I have a ton of pictures of it from that weekend.
Mine was the Silver 1970 S Coupe in Ed Mayo's Historic grouping. That is the only way I would ever do a PCA Concours. Hats off to you & wife for the great car and great preparation. yours was the most interesting car ther to me that weekend..

Thanks! It sure didn't make sense to those of us that were put in the dirt lot. The ridiculous part was that the Parade hotel roped off a huge parking area for at least a hundred cars reserved for PCNA V.I.P.s.....I think maybe seven V.I.P.s showed up. We could/should/would have been in that lot if PCA didn't have their noses planted up PCNAs beeeehind.

Hey Bill, Thanks!
I remember Ed's group and your Silver Coupe. Ft Worth was our favorite Parade out of all the Parade's. Great people, Great restaurants, and Great location for the Concours.....let's do it again!!!!

My avatar shows a pic of my car at a local PCA event done a few months ago and held less than 5 mins. from my apartment here in Miami. I had never done a "car show" before, and the car was completely detailed top to bottom, with everything in place and looking as good as it could ever be. There were 5 categories, and mine was in the 1990-1999 one, and let me tell ya, it wasn't enjoyable. I am naturally a competitive person, and people's taste and choice can be fickle at times... You're better off enjoying driving the heck out of the car, getting thumbs up everywhere you go, and hanging out with other car guys where no prize is at stake, than to super detail the car, not use it for weeks or days at a time, just so it can be factory new looking and clean condition to see if you may win a silly little ribbon. But, to each their own and all I know is that its just not for me...
