Life changes

Guys,
It looks like this chapter of my Porsche ownership is coming to an abrupt end. My wife and I have decided to divorce and my beloved little car will have to be sold for the settlement. I can't tell you all what your friendship, advice, and help has meant to me over the past few months and wish there was a way to show my appreciation more fully.

This car has been a real bright spot in my life and it hurts to think about letting it go, but I'm having to pick my battles right now. Unfortunately the timing is not right for me to be able to hold on to it.

I do think that another P-car is in my future so I'll be watching the board to keep up. Once again, thanks for all of the help. I'll be posting it in the for sale section in the next few days, so if any of you are interested in the mean time, I will be glad to email info on it.

Thanks,
Mark

Sorry to hear about your divorce. Personally, I think marriage blows @ss anyway. I was married briefly (hard to imagine anyone able to deal with me to begin with), but then separated after a year or so. Been separated for a long time...like 18 months, and frankly, we get along a lot better that way. Going back is a possibility I'm considering, but we'll see. I just love my independence.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of the Pcar.

Man, why can't you keep it? That just chaps my hide big time. People have to go out and get even, and hack and slash until not a leg's left standing...where is the Rationality? Any pain of an ending marriage will pass on its own; there's no need to make people's lives miserable in the mean time. Of course, I don't know the details; I'm just assuming you have to sell it...Anyway, well, I hope she feels accomplished, vindicated, and fulfilled as the car is driven away by someone else.
F'ing lame.
Good luck bud.

Mark -

Sell it to me for $1 and give her .50.

I'll sell it back to you for $1 after the final is signed !

You'll get to keep the car AND make a 100% profit !

Mark -

Very sorry to hear about the divorce. Also sorry to hear about the 911.

If there's anything any of us can do, you've got a lot of friends on this board. Even if it's a while before you're in a Recaro seat again, stick around on the board. You're a valued member of this little community.

I too am very sorry to hear of your situation. And the list has suggested some VERY creative "work-arounds". You do hear stories of ex's giving away prized toys for a song just out of spite. But in the long run, I think these sham transfers are voidable. The law has some alternative terms for transactions like this: "fraudulent conveyance" and to be valid, there the buyer must be a "bona fide purchaser for value". But it IS creative.

Mark - I'm also sorry to here about your divorce. I wish you the best during this difficult time.

Tom - You make a mean floor jack but remind me not to hire you as my accountant. If Marks receives $0.50 for the same car that he must pay $1.00 for......

Sorry to hear your news, Mark.

Very few people ever manage to give up the Porsche hobby once its taken hold.

So be it. You'll be without a Porsche for a while. Another one (perhaps a better one) is waiting out there for a good day in the future.

Please stick around here - this is a very special board indeed and we'd hate to see you go.

Look on the bright side. You will now have an empty space in the garage to start that project car. I hope it's a mutual decision. Best of luck.

Cool

Thanks to all for the support and very creative suggestions. Yes it is a mutual and amicable parting. I should probably clear up that my own finances are part of the reason that E has to go. I wasn't preped for this and have all ready sold our house (before it even went on the market). Now I'm scrambling to get the finances squared so I can buy another casa. A case of life throwing curve balls.
