Removing Climate Control From Dashboard
Anyone have details on removing the climate/fan control unit in the dashbaord from a '77? I did a search, sort of got some answers with some incomplete threads.
Would appreciate the help.

I'd be interested in this too. I need to pull the one from my SC and have not been able to figure it out and would prefer to not fubar it.

Are you trying to remove the unit completely or are you just replacing bulbs? I've had mine out years ago trying to repair one of the Bowden cables and as I recall it was a PITA. The best way to remove it that I could determine was to remove it with with the cables still attached by disconnecting them in the trunk and pulling the entire assembly out at least partially. If you do this, you might want to tie string to each cable to aid in pulling them back through into the trunk. The cables do come off of the controller but it is much easier with the unit out.
I would be interested in hearing if anyone has had success with replacing the "wires" without replacing the entire control unit.

Total removal is a horrible job. You must trace the cables to the trunk, unconnect each one, then pull the bolt under the dash behind the unit. This lets you pull the unit out. Good luck getting the cables back thru their holes. Getting the cables off the control head is almost impossible unless it is out. But as noted above you can use this technique to get the unit out an inch or two, which may help with bulb replacement or socket repair.
