Can't get it started.
I may have posted this question already, but I don't see it on the board so I don't think it went through.
Anyways, I cannot get my '71 911T started. I have replaced plugs, wires, points, rotor, cap, coil. I am getting spark at the plugs. I checked the firing order and 2 months ago before I had the car it ran for about an hour then stopped and has not started since. I have not gotten the chance to check the timing, but it has not been changed since it last ran. Also when replaced the points I had trouble setting the gap, what is an easy way to turn the engine?, I can't do it by hand, and the starte never seems turn it around to the spot I want. I also replaced the fuel filter on this car, and the pump it getting fuel to the carbs (Zenith 40TIN.) The only thing that happens when I start the car is that is turns over, it doesn't smoke or sputter or anything except occaisonally it will pop and a puff of smoke will come out the exhaust. Could the gas have gone bad? I added water remover to the tank to make sure, and there is gas in the tank. Could the carbs to clogged? Any suggestions on getting her running again. Thanks. |
