Installing Door Window & Regulator - 911 Cabriolet Targa - Leveling - Parallelism

Installing regulators and windows. Please keep in mind, I didn't take them out. That's a long story... Please see that attached pictures showing the top of the glass on the quarter window side is much higher than the other.. The regulator is in its lowest position on the stop. I can't seem to adjust anything to make it correct(PARALLEL / LEVEL)? Also, the glass is sticking out of the door obviously.. so that's a problem! These pictures are of the passenger (right) side and the regulator was marked (right) but I didn't personally mark it...

How low should the glass sit in the door when you look at it from the top?
Should it look perfectly level when it just about goes into the top of door?
How do I know for sure which regulator assembly goes in which door?
Does anyone see anything I'm missing or incorrect?

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!!

PM me your email and I will send you the factory manual.

Jim

P.S. use clamps with rubber ends to hold up the glass as you work on the adjustment bolts and retainers, tape just doesn't hold up well. You do not want the glas to drop in the door, it may shatter.

Certainly Sir,

May I recommend you delete your personal email address so you won't get spammed since this is a public forum. Just my 2 cents.

DRACO A5OG, Thank you so much for the files and they will help. I quickly read thru them and just don't see the answer to my problem.

Any more ideas? The window glass in it's frame has never been removed therefore the angle never changed?? I really can't remember if the windows always looked like this in the down position???
Its been apart for 11 years... I have a very very faint faint memory that they may have been like this from the beginning... Maybe to match the cab top for perfect sealing???

Thanks in advance!!!!

Searched the web for some pics.

Maybe its correct the way I have it? The window is clearly showing in the same spot as mine on all these cars..

I also found pics of cars were it doesn’t show at all.. so now I’m really confused…

My old cab had the glass below the doorsill.

Can anyone confirm ...

Can anyone confirm that their cab or targa has the window oriented like mine in the down position?

I see it on some cars and not on others. Its not that big a deal to me but if I can fix easy I would like to...

more important is how it lines up at the top.
If it's level when all the way up and meets the horizontal top seal correctly, then you're good.

That is not the proper orientation. there is a limiter on the regulator that can be re-positioned.

Is the other side the same? I was going to suggest you use the good side as a reference.

I have taken my door apart many times to align the PO body shops hack job.

Jim

PM me if you need more help.

Hi, this is my issue. How do I adjust so that it meets the top seal correctly, rather than trying to lift the Targa top off the car!

Thanks

KJ

Seems height and angle can be adjusted - Hurrah! Just found the relevant pages in the workshop manual. I'll either load pics or the relevant pages when I get a chance.
