Issues installing an Auto Power Roll Bar in a 77 Coupe for DE
Bought a used Auto Power roll bar with the removalable diagonal/cross brace so I could use my five points for DE in my 77 sunroof coupe.
When not at DE.....remove the diagonal/cross brace and use the stock three points. Made the wife happy as there would be access to the back seat but not for passengers. Am installing it this weekend and am finding that the roll hoop is too close to the "B" pillar to allow the stock belt mount to swivel. Called Auto Power and they said this was an early roll bar and with their newer ones have more clearance. Any suggestions on how I can save this project???? I once called Autopower too because the unit was "off" on a diagonal measurement by 3" ( ! ) ....on a known good car that wasn't pranged....and they simply told me to Porta-Power it back into shape !!!!!........
Yeah.....great customer service ...... ![]()

I have installed a few of these. I thunk they are a great product from a safety standpoint. They are 1.75" with a .120 wall whereas minimum is typically 1.5 with a .090 wall (aka safety devices).
You may be able to shorten your rear stays slightly to either move the bar back or change the angle slightly. Be careful nt to change the height drastically.
