Question Another Paint Code Question

Please help a newbie with this paint question.
Code is 8010-H on my ’71T.
Is there a web site to look this up? Anyone know exactly what this color is?

Thanks for the assistance, Joel

The description in Peter Morgans "Original Porsche 911 " book
states that this color is "Silver Metallic" and was an optional color
in 1971. All matallic finishes were applied with a two-coat, wet-on-wet process.

Hope this helps!

Nope, that doesn’t help at all. The car is definitely red’ish... I don’t find any sign of a re-paint. Or if it was, it was done VERY well.
Maybe I wrote down the wrong code? I'll have to check again when I get home, and am not 'working'

Joel, are you sure it isn't 8110-H ?

That's Metallic Red - the 'H' stands for Herbol, the paint manufacturer.

I'll check. Is there a code for ORANGE?
And where are you getting your information? Another book I don't yet have...

Well, I looked again. It's 8010-H.
It's the plate on the drivers side door jam, right? In front of the door on the body?

Question

It seems as though 8010 is definitely the code for "Silver Metallic". So, I would bet your car has had a complete down-to-bare-metal paint job (color change) at some point during it's life, or the the wrong paint code placard was put on your car at the factory.

Thank you all for your help here. I don't have a lot of history on the car, so I can't say for sure if it's every been repainted. It has some chips and scratches that I was going to try to repair so I guess I'll be going to a good body shop to get the paint matched.
I like the 'red', but if it was silver, that would be cool too.
