Aussie pelican needs help!!!
Hey all,
l've already started a few threads about this and thanks to a few good people on this forum thought l had it sorted.A IROC kit has been fitted to my 89 carrera by the PO but the rear body panel that the rear reflector mounts to is missing and a bodgy set up has been done. This is what l have now. It also has the rear bumper ![]() on the lh side out of alignment which can't be corrected unitl l sort out the body panel, because the mount it's using to hold the rear reflector sits too far down on the left. You can see here it's clearly missing(body panel). ![]() Just order new parts you say, well l did all from our host, new reflector and a body panel to suit a 74-89 it said but the reflector is correct but didn't match the panel,l contacted the parts dept of our host and it was discovered that the body panel was listed wrongly and in fact did not suit the 87-89 carreras. So no prob l ordered one and the rubber that sits on top of said panel and all associated clips etc. This was starting to get expensive, but l thought it was finally sorted, all the rubber seals and clips are on the way but l have just found out PORSCHE HAVE STOPPED MAKING THE BODY PANEL NOOOOOOO!!!!!! How could this be so, l'm sure there are lots of 87-89 carreras out there? So the only option l have is to find a donor vehicle, does anyone know of or have one that they are parting out or even the email add of a wreckers in the states/Australia. l thought about trying to fit the reflector to the body panel l brought but it doesn't even look like it wants to fit together, not the same profile. Here's a view from behind at the moment not cool, bumper hanging to the left ,reflector out of alignment rubbing badly on the bumper l steer people away from the back because it's sh#$house and it's my favourite part of a 911, l should be highlighting it.Thanks for any help in advance Gerry Van Last edited by Gerry van; 05-08-2011 at 12:04 PM.. |

I sympathise, I have gone through a similar journey. That panel is hard to get. Have you considered the bunch of US based wreckers that sell on that famous internet based auction site? They might be able to get one.
Your current panel looks like it is made up of the remains of a 964 reflector screwed on top of the original 87-89 reflector. I guess you also know you are missing the heat shield that sits on top of the bumper under the reflector. The standard heat shield panel may not fit your custom bumper though. |
