Fast blink - only during first few minutes

My 80 SC has a weird issue with fast turn signal blinkers, both left and right. I've read this could be caused by a bad or loose bulb, or dirty contact, etc. I've checked my bulbs and cleaned out any dirt and contamination. They all looked pretty clean, but I sprayed electrical contact cleaner inside the housing, etc., just to be sure.

The strange thing about this issue is that it always seems to 'resolve' itself after a few minutes of driving. It's like the issue is eliminated once the car is warmed up. Its very consistent, never have a fast blink after a few minutes of driving.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could cause a 'time sensitive' fast blink on the turn signals?

Just a guess: The relay could be on its' way out. When the relay is cold - fast blink. Relay warms up - all is well.

I would replace all the bulbs and relay. It won't be too expensive. I have a 944 that the blinkers don't work at all for a few minutes if the car sits more than a couple days.

make sure the bulb sockets are clean along with grounds. sounds like a high resistance problem

Thanks all for your responses...I'm ordering new relay and bulbs all around from our host. I will update with my findings on this strange issue.

+1 on that! One that resolves after it heats, so it's minor at this point. I bet if you clean all bulb contacts, this will disappear (I could be wrong,..but let's go for simplicity first!) Fresh bulbs wouldn't hurt a thing!
