Defensive driving. You assume everybody in front of you is an idiot and out to wreck you. Because 95% of the time, they are.

Reminds me of the three rules of Italian (Mexican, English, Chinese.....) driving:
1. Pass the guy in front of you 2. Don't look behind you 3. Remember, YOU are the best driver in the world!

I would never admit to it.........but I did have a "situation" where I did a "4inch" stop, flat spotted an almost new set of good tires. No modulation of the brake pedal, no ABS..... The cloud of smoke was huge, the skidmarks there for months. Idiot move! Lucky it only cost me a set of tires!!

No; We are the ones who have to live with the consequences of your stupidity and arrogance when those actions leave US crippled or dead.

I seen just such a wreck a couple years ago. Cars stopped in the left two lanes at a light. Right lane was clear. Just as car approached and he decided to pass everybody on the right at a high rate of speed. He got broad sided by a car that was making a left turn.

We all know our 911s will stop on a dime.
Its all the other cars/drivers on my rear bumper that can't. So I like to leave a big enough gap in front so I can flash my brake lights before slowing. But the other day I was in the same situation traffic stopped/crashed right in front of me. I had a guy tailgating me so instead of stopping on a dime I just moved over into the emergency lane in the center of the freeway. Basic accident avoidance, safer than locking them up and giving up steering/control and sliding into a parked car. ![]() The tailgater followed my lane change and almost rear ended me in the emergency lane. ![]() This dude would of nailed me if I would of threshold braked. As it was he could not stop quick enough to stop from hitting the car that was in front of me and was lucky I showed him a good plan b. Really a dangerous driver. First chance I could let him pass and watched him continue to tailgate someone else. PS Best of luck finding who your mother is.

I think that we all have had some kind of wake up moment like that. And come away a lot more careful about our driving and with increased concern about others as well as our own and our beloved cars well being. There are some situations that are better than others for a little sporting driving. You might have to get up really early to find some.
We just had a sad tale from a member that got his ice green targa very beat up in an accident that I am sure he wishes he could have avoided. It can be much worse than just a wasted car. The feed back that I love from my 911, some times make it difficult to keep this in focus. Cheers Richard |

DO us all a favor and don't drive like that in a 911 -- do so in a Mustang or something, so we don't become associated with your juvenile and dangerous behavior. |

My tires are toast as well. Good, I needed a reason to get some slicks. Went out for another blast tonight and got stopped by the cops. What a bunch of great guys! They were only interested in talking about P-Cars. I even told them about my near miss the other day and we all shared a good laugh about it. Swell fellows.
