Quick alternator question
I had a Valeo alternator rebuilt, new everything - bearings, brushes, diodes, etc. It's a bit tough to turn by hand. Is this normal, does it have to wear in?
Before I took it in it turned freely and easily. Thanks.

It should spin very freely.
I went to buy one at Canadian Tire once...for a chevy...and the first one would not turn at all! The second...turned stiffly The third...well...it had a strange sound when it spun. the forth sounded good....spun freely...and in the end lasted for more than 10 years (sold the car). So....reject if you are not satisfied.... And...BTW....the first 3 units I looked at....went back on the shelf for the next poor idiot!! Bob

Not normal, should turn with no resistance. Never seen a Valeo rebuilt by Valeo. Probably remaned by Bosch, which means its junk. Get a new Valeo & save yourself lots of grief.
