Help Identifying Plug
Hi Everyone,
I was cleaning the carpet, when I found a plug underneath the drivers seat that was not plugged into anything. Anyone know where it goes? From a 86. ![]() ![]() Thanks |

I was wondering that as well. Saw that plug a while ago under my seat.

You may want to have your car tented. :-)

They were still putting the same plug in cars in '89. (That is for information only; someone else will have to answer the question. I hope.)

It's an electronic worm-zapper. It's supposed to be unplugged, it fools the worms. It looks like it's working perfectly.

What are the colors of the wires going to the connector?
Being under the drivers seat could be something to do with the DME. Altitude correction unit? |

Well I looked around again and found the other plug that goes into this. I plugged mine together but don't notice anything.
I bet it has something to do with the seat belts... David

It was near the seat...both plug ends were under the carpet.

That's the connector for the inside temperature sensor mounted on the dash, just to the left of the climate controls. It plugs into the heater control box between the seats. You can see it here clearly in the picture:

Not on my car...I don't have the temp sensor as I have the manual heat system. Perhaps on my car it does have something to do with the seat belt indicator.
Since my dash lamp cluster is not working I can't see if it is the seat belt warning. David

Not on mine
I believe Porsche might have run the wires wether required or not for the sake of efficiency at the factory. Those cars which required it got it plugged into the circuit board, those that didn't, well, didn't. I have the plug, but like many others, it's not plugged into anything. Keep in mind, in the days of the Carrera (mid-late 80's ) Porsche was pumping out a lot of cars, relatively speaking, to the yuppies. Porsche probably (conjecture) tried to streamline production by wiring all the cars the same and then just plugging in the options that were ordered.
I don't have climate control, therefore the cirlced portion on the dash is not populated with the sensor. Also note my control between the seats only goes up to 3. I believe the climate controlled cars have detents up to 10 (I may be wrong on this). ![]() ![]()
