71 Hotrod just about finished

Returned from deployment a few weeks ago and my shop (KMW Motorsports/Kevin Wheeler) delivered as promised on my 71T and "almost" under budget. I wanted a 71 flared and tailed S "ish" hotrod with a seriously built 2.5SS, as much weight cut as possible and still being streetable. All insulation removed, radio, LW seats, carpet, heater, wiper/motor, lexan rear 3, etc,etc . TRE (Thanks Dave) supplied all the body parts and most of the interior. Supertech was great, JPlonghood supplied the 7R case, the OEM 73 dated 10K tack & 180 mph speedo (thanks John) yet to be installed.
The car ended up weighing 2171 with a full tank and 246 at the rear wheels, the interior came out great. Currently has 7800rpm pills in it, will switch to 8K.

Some of the mods:

- 7R Case, Ollies performed most of the mods, Shuffle pinned, case parting halves machined flat and the main bearing saddles lined bored back to standard, Install case savers, spot face through bolt holes, clean oil passages, KMW finished it off with machining for the GT-3 pump and oil mods.
- 66mm crank knife edged, oil mods, balanced and polished by Pauter
- Pauter Rods
- GT-3 Oil Pump
- Mahle Barrels (mooned)
-JE Pistons 10:5:1 (I mix race gas with the local pump 93)
- DC-62 cams
- 2.7 heads modded by Extreme (Their 2.5 HSR set up)
- 46 PMOs
-JB Twin Plug Dist
- 901 Shop Headers
-M&K muffler 2 in 2 out (modded by KMW)
- Carrera tensioners with jerry woods mod and Supertech tensioner arms.
- Supertech studs & pully
- Oil coolers in front fenders
- LW pressure plate and clutch
- 915 with short gears through 4th with a taller 5th, 8:31 R&P and Guard LSD
- Elephant Racing Street/Track 2 with a set of Tarret sways I picked up used
-PMB supplied Supplied the early alloy front calipers and SC rears.

Thanks for looking
Jimmy

Very sweet. I was thinking wow 246whp is impressive for a 2.5L, but then realized it was a Dyno pack, still a healthy number.

Slow& Rusty,

The original 2.5 motor for this car which was not nearly as built ( 3R case, 120/104 cams, stock crank, carrera oil pump, a bit lower compression, basic headers, put out a very similar number on the Dyno Jet next door.

This dyno sheet is one of the reasons I went the way I did on the 2.5 that is currently in the car. The current motor pulls much harder than this last one.

From my reading the Dynopak is a bit more conservative than some others but hey, numbers are numbers and it is mostly for tuning.

Thanks
Jimmy

Jimmy,

Where in florida are you located? Will you taking that thing to the track with us at Sebring? It certainly looks like it is set up to like a thoroughbred!
