ERP Front Rubber Bushings - Initial Driving Impressions

This winter, I replaced my tired old front rubber bushings with a new set of ERP Rubber Bushings and ERP Rubber Strut Mounts. My car had 19mm t-bars and Boge struts. My t-bars were beginning to show rub marks, so replace them with a good used set of 19mm bars and replaced the Boge with Bilstein inserts. The Boge were fine, but wanted Bilstein all around.

Overall, the installation was very straightforward. The ERP installation video walks you through the process with great clarity and I found my installation process mirrored the video. I would recommend reading the instructions several times, there are a few details in the instructions not in the video.

This morning was my first drive of the season since I was doing multiple projects and the older I get the slower and shorter I work. (Rebuild steering rack, new fuel pump, new tunnel fuel lines, etc) I am really, really pleased with how the car drove. Previously, if I ran over a dime I could usually call heads or tails, and that was with Boge. I am sure the t-bars were just metal on metal, so minor road imperfections were transferred into the body with a very unpleasant harshness. Now, those tar strips and other minor crap are largely filtered out. You can still feel them, but it's not that molar-rattling, annoying feel. No loss body control or steering feel. Really, it seems to be all upside.

Who knows if this will last a season, five, ten or more, but this was a dramatic improvement in the ride. My car is a street car with a very occasional x-cross. Next winter, I am going to swap the five year old rear Neatrix for Chuck's rubber and install new rubber banana arm bushings.

PS - Now, I just need to recheck my valve adjustment since I have a very audible tick in the five, six cylinder area and try to enjoy the summer.

Greg, great to hear the Elephant Racing bushings are working well!

To clear any confusion for those following at home, Elephant Racing and ERP are not the same company. The bushings are Elephant Racing.
