As has been stated before, your best bet for a fair price will be here on our for sale forum. If you do a search for Fuchs 7x15 and don't come up with anything, try posting a WTB (would like to buy) ad and give it a week/end as see what kind of response you get.

I'd stay the heck away from e-bay, especially when buying wheels!

I have at least 7 sets of 7&8x15; all real. I have never paid more that $700 for a set of 4 (and one set was free), except the 2 NOS 8x15 I paid $500 for. I also had a set of RSR 9x15 that i paid $900 for and sold for $1200 a couple years later. And there was also the 6&7x16 fully polished set I sold for $1100.

I think the price of wheels had gone up not because of higher demand (greater need), but rather because people are speculating them like and investment and hording them like Byron.

With Porsche Classic reissuing new editions of the Fuchs wheels now, I think there will be a natural cap put on the speculation in these wheels. Right now, you can get brand new from Porsche:

and there will be more reissues, and even cheaper possibilities if Fuchs gets into the act with direct sales, as has been rumored. I would expect the 11x15" RSR rim may be next on the Porsche Classic reissue list, or perhaps the 7R rim.

While they are very durable rims, Fuchs can and do break after many use cycles work-harden the alloy and sufficient shock loading occurs. Most people, when faced with a choice between an unknown condition used rim and a brand new reissue at the same, or slightly greater price, will choose the new rim, I think. Only a concours nut who absolutely needs the correct date stamp appropriate to the model year will be willing to pay the premium for the older rim. I think we are already seeing this in the drop in value of the 9x15 RSR rims that were previously bringing astronomical prices in the used market, and to some extent with the price of the used 9x16s, which were increasing rapidly until they were reissued.

One thing that has really changed things are people going for Concours restorations, now Date Codes make a HUGE difference in the value. 4.5, 5.5 & Deep 6s were scoffed up by the VW crowd years ago, limiting what is now available to the Early 911s. With high dollar restorations, if you have a 69 911S, you need Deep Sixes with Hearts with the proper date code, and you will be willing to pay for them, same if you have a 72 911ST or 73 RS or RSR ad need the correct 9s for that yr, and if your 74 Carrera a set of 7&8X15 Fuchs that came on a 85 944 just won't cut it.... As to higher demand, the VW crowd has been grabbing Fuchs since the 1st Porsches came with them, then in the 80s, with the "Minni Truck" craze, a lot of Fuchs starting finding homes on Datsuns, Toyota's and Mazdas, then they started ending up other imports.. The fact that many Porsche owners have been swapping out Fuchs for American Racing (in the early 70s) BBS, Gottis, ect in the 80s and in the 90s, it was Cup Is replacing Fuchs on pre-89 Porsches, then everyone wanted Turbo Twist. And when people figured out that 6X16 Fuchs made a great center for 2 & 3 piece wheels, some of us knew it and the 6s that had been selling for $50 a wheels since most people just set then in the garage after getting a set of 8s for the rear & moving the 7s up front, then in 87, the 9X16 Fuchs came with the once again US legal 930, and then the 8s lost values:(. While on 80s Fuchs, lots of 944s came with 7&8X15s, yet 911 snobs don't think they are worth as much as Fuchs from a 911, even though they have a 911 part #:confused: and while on the 944s, the 86 944 Turbo Fuchs (one year only) 7&8X16s where the 8s looked like 7s with the lack of dish, so at 1st, they could be bought cheap, then people started going to bigger brakes and figured out that the Fuchs off a 951 would clear the calipers that the other Fuchs wouldn't and that they could stuff the 951 8s under the front fender of an stock bodied SC & Carrera, the days of buying 951 7&8s for $300-$400 a set to $400 for a single 8, plus the 951 7s found a new uses as they cleared big brakes too.. There popularity is backed up by the fact that there have been so many aftermarket versions available over the years and in the last few years news ones have come out to meet the demand..

Last time I checked, which was in late June, the best dealer price I could find was $1150 for a brand new 9 x 16" Fuchs.

Thanks Tom, that seems way too high to me, even for a brand new wheel.

Getting the wheels is step one. Then you need to find the 245/45s to match... that's become quite a challenge.

Sweet. I have what I think are among the last 245/45 16 ContiSportContacts in North America. I'm hoarding them. You can still buy them in Germany for nearly $400 each.

But back to the topic: I have a pair of 16 X 7 951 Fuchs that I've been advertising for 6 months with no apparent interest, and a full set of used 16 X 7 & 8" 951 Fuchs for $1100.

15 X 7" and 16 X 9" seem to me to be the most asked-for sizes of Fuchs.

So what would a good original set of 14 x 5.5 Fuchs go for today and how desireable are they. I would think as time goes by they will also begin to climb in value.
