I love how this is turing out!!

Little Update

So it's getting close now..

The last week has seen the front brakes, spindles etc done. The tubing for the brake cooling isn't on yet, but that's not far.

A lot of time has been spent ensuring the wiring harness etc is all 100% and that's almost finished now.

I had to make some decisions about gauges etc, but I think I will wait until it's finished before sharing these.

Coolers are in, and here's a shot of the front of the car.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1327567335.jpg

The plan for the rest of the week is to ensure that we get wiring finalized, and hopefully the wheels on! I can't wait to see it rolling.

Cory M 01-26-2012 08:34 AM

Beautiful car but I think it needs a few more oil coolers!

JEM911 01-26-2012 01:05 PM

Wheels are here...

JEM911 02-06-2012 10:06 PM

Wheels lead to rolling shell...

So i'm hopeless getting things to size properly and within the image restrictions...

BUT here is the car ... rolling shell now.

Wow! How did I miss this build?! Incredible! One of my favorite colors too.

Sub'd!

proffighter 02-06-2012 11:26 PM

Awesome built, lovely details. The modern rims look sooo nice on the car

Mawa 02-07-2012 02:19 AM

I just got some updated pictures from the guys over at Patrick Motorsports, who have worked really hard to get a lot of work done in the reassembly of this beast.

A lot of work was done in the preparation stage of this to run all these cables and ensure that it all fits first time, without a problem.

It would seem that this is enabling a relatively quick reassembly.

I'm very excited...

Where did you get your dual master from....looks like Fabcar?

JEM911 02-07-2012 11:43 AM

Its a Fabcar / Patrick part, I understand that you can buy from ebay at:

DUAL MASTER CYLINDER SYSTEM FOR PORSCHE 911 & 930 | eBay

or just call Patrick Motorsports direct I guess...

JEM911 03-08-2012 03:21 PM

Dash is in....

Well most of it at least...

The wiring harness is almost complete now, and the Motec harness is almost complete as well...

I'm considering using the Motec camera system for in-car and front-bar camera angles... has anyone used this system? It seems like the logical choice seeing I'm running the Motec on the Engine...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1331252436.jpg

Finally, a quick photo of the rear under-body... I'm pretty sure this gap will be filled by the engine next week.

Very nice. The entire project is very impressive. Did you have them install the complete later-style ventilation system? Or did you just fit the vents?

Very interesting rear lid. Have you decided on the grille or mesh?:eek:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1331314403.jpg

tocobill 03-09-2012 08:54 AM

RSR is def coming together. Looks great! Do you have an official build sheet of the project (brakes, suspension bits, etc ..)? Im curious to hear what brakes/rotors your running? Thanks.

I think I want to go with the mesh option here...

I haven't put the whole thing together yet, well I do in invoices but that's a long process to get together...

Re the Brakes - its all 993 Turbo brakes from memory, but I'll have to check to get more details.

Finalising the engine

Attached are a couple of pictures which show where we are upto on the engine. PM is trying to ensure that we have this 100% before we put it in. We are also trying to ensure all the other wiring and systems are in before we install the engine.

I love the idea of those air jacks!

How about a shot of the front one?

The dash turned out really nice! Its not going to be long now. I hope to hear it fire up soon!

Yeah- Thats overkill. But man it looks great.

DonDavis 04-06-2012 11:27 PM

Wow, my eyes played tricks on me! I thought you had some graphics added your car! Took me a sec to realize it was just the plastic protective sheet. Weird.

DonDavis 07-06-2012 06:54 AM

Any updates?

JEM911 07-06-2012 09:34 AM

Update

How about a dash teaser for an update...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1341595824.jpg

The car is coming together. The engine has been taking a bit of time to finalise, however the results will be worth it!

We've also been focused on another project which has meant this had been on the back burner... The other 911 project is awesome, but no where near as complex a build.

DonDavis 07-06-2012 01:54 PM

Nice!

Is it still at Patrick's? Do you have a target finish date?

It is still at Patrick's. James Patrick has been great and put up with my continued 'ideas' and 'minor' changes to make the car just 'right'. It's all the little details that make a car great... but it also takes the most amount of time!

JEM911 07-12-2012 06:27 PM

Engine update

So then engine is almost there!

Good things seem to come to those who wait (sometimes) and the wait is definitely shaping up to be worth it.

quozl 07-12-2012 07:10 PM

Wow, just Wow!!!!

quattrorunner 07-12-2012 07:35 PM

AUGH!!!!
I read this thread when it was new and have missed it till now. O how nice it's turned out!

JEM911 07-18-2012 05:10 AM

Thanks for the encouragement... however it hasn't been needed!
I'm an absolute car fanatic and once I bought my first Porsche it was the end of me...

I got a great update today from James Patrick... I could go on, but I think the picture sums it up!

Just an amazing job. Wonderful.

atcjorg 07-18-2012 11:46 AM

beautiful, nice to build a car exactly the way you want it, damn nice

Competizione 10-29-2012 04:45 PM

Amazing build.... Any updates??

ZAMIRZ 10-29-2012 04:52 PM

Love how industrial everything looks with the different blacks and grays. You've done an A+ job so far, this is going to be one of the great "early 911" builds.

mreid 10-29-2012 06:26 PM

I was doubtful about the color, but wow! I love it! Any graphics planned? Color accents?

JEM911 10-30-2012 02:32 PM

Update on progress

There are updates... I have been very slack in getting things posted. For that I'm sorry.

The engine is in, but yet to fired up. Having had the exhaust in, we thought it was sitting a bit too low, so we had new custom work done made to tuck it in a bit higher. Its also off getting coated so its black and doesn't stand out so much.

The carpet is currently being installed and the front is now all assembled.

A couple of detailed photos of the front are attached.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1351636109.jpg

There has been a lot of time spent on getting the finer details just right on this. Its starting to really show and pay off.

Re the decal's questions, the decal's will be in black, with the traditional "Porsche" along the side and rear.

quattrorunner 10-30-2012 02:41 PM
