Programmable Ignition (MSD 6AL2) - Work or Not?
So I've done my Weber conversion, and now I have 2 options (or so I thought) with my distributor.
1. Get it rebuilt/recurved and either stick with my Bosch ignition or buy a new MSD (non programmable) or 2. Get it rebuilt, advanced locked out, and get the programmable ignition. But after talking to Barry in Detroit, he says the programmable doesn't work. But I've read otherwise on this forum. Any dizzy experts know exactly what is involved when you get the dizzy "locked"? I thought it was just removing the advanced (setting it to 0?) so the MSD takes up that job? Why would he say it won't work? Thanks.

Yes, I did see that thread. It seems theoretically you could set the dizzy to a 7 degree advance, then set the MSD to be 0 at idle and 25 (max) at 6000 rpm, giving you 32 degrees at throttle (good for Texas, run slightly cooler).
But would that be the only reason to say the programmable won't work?
