Caution: Repairs using self-fusing silicon repair tape
There have been several threads on the use of self-fusing silicon tape known as ER Tape or Ace Hardware brand version. Be sure to check the temperature ratings of what you are using. I just had the cheaper Ace version fail in an engine bay application. Too hot and tape has turned to goo.

i use 3M Scotch "Super 33+" elec tape for engine compartments auto and marine
