With the grey RS carpet and the Vitaloni mirrors it looks a little like my silver SC. Glad to see I'm not the only one who used this combo.

July 14 - Glimmer of light at end of tunnel.

Mounted spacers front and rear, put rubber on 16x9R and 15x8F and rolled her into the light....




Amazing the affect on ride height after taking out all that weight.

After admiring our work, we decided that there was only one proper way to set off the rear of the car. That's right boyz and girlz....OLD SCHOOL, ROCK AND ROLL COOKIE CUTTER MEGAPHONES

July 20th - Nearly 3 months to the day when we started on her (Jeez, was that really 90 days ago?!) - The Dzugtours.com RS/R sees the light of day under he own power....

From the start of this project, we wanted to get the details as correct (within reasonable $$ range) as possible, and this held esp true when it came to doing the 73 Targa winning RSR Martini graphics. Sooo, i called up a friend who is an assistant curator of the Matt Drendel (R.I.P.) collection in Hickory, NC, 1.5 hours away, and asked if we could bring our graphics guys up for a visit. This was so they could get their color swatches correct by comparing with one of the few original graphic Martini cars still around, the 2.1 Turbo in the Drendel collection. Trevor said sure, and so we paid a visit to the Drendel Collection (in the name of authenticity of course)....

Our graphix team at work... they had only worked on Nascars before... needless to say, they came away 'Porschestruck'

The front bumper on the RSR is very interesting, kind of like blending the upper bumper of the long hood style with the lower IROC 'front dam' with modern splitter... 'Milt' here on the board made a similar custom front bumper for his back date Carrera..

As we didnt yet have a plate for the car, Pete used the following week to attend to all the futher details of the car before we turned a wheel on the open road.

Well, 4 days ago, that fateful day finally arrived that is perhaps the sweetest off all in a build that u have poured blood, sweat and beer into....

Another 'admiration' phase shot


Before driving down to Porsche Parade next week, we still have some detail work on her, including mounting a custom decklid grill and our carbon fiber reflector (discussed in this thread carbon fiber reflector panel?), some interior trim, and....


Graphix..


Thursday morning we took her to David and Hunter, our guys at Icongraphics in Greensboro and dropped her off for her Martini treatment. We had left Pete's 930 at shop in the weeks prior to use as a template for the graphix.



By Friday, we had gotten the following pix from the boyz at Icon...

Looks like a large scale version of the Tamiya models decal sheet. Funny thing is, we found a scanned image of the decal set of the Tamiya Martini RSR online and it was accurate enough for the guys at Icon to use it in their rendering!
