I'ld be very surprised if you have a squeak coming from either the differential or the hand brake. How about the inner swing arm bearings or the top and/or shock bushes? Just a thought. Happy searching.

Not the differential and so far not the park brake. I need to check a bit further. But to reiterate, this is not a squeak, but a scraping/grinding sound. Shocks, arb, spring plate bushings are not the problem. Inner trailing/banana arm bearings are a candidate, though no one has yet said he's had that particular issue. Next step, lube the hell out of those with something that likes rubber.

Obviously moisture has caused corrosion on the outer bearing race. I have probably been sloppy with the greasing... But they have been silent the whole time! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I think they will clean up nice with some 400 grit....

Look nice Magnus.
I hesitate to even put this in writing but I may have found my problem. Having eliminated almost every other possible source of my annoying noise, I emptied an entire can of silicon spray on the small trailing arm bushes at the motor mounts. A test drive suggests I've finally killed the noise. If so, six months of annoying sounds are now history. I'll update this after a couple of more test drives to confirm. But it now looks like the Elephant Racing polybronze bushings were working fine all along and completely innocent of my suspicions. Hope so.
