Wayne - nice job and great way to go about it (Tag Team methodology for those "WTF do I do now" moments)! Are those 930 flares? They look rounded, which is something I want my metal guy to do to mine (already mounted) once i'm ready. Or is it an optical illusion?

We very slightly reworked the edges to make them more rounded.

They aren't original RSR round, but a bit of the sharp bend is gone now.

As for the "what do I do now" moments, the guys are good at their craft and restoring cars to stock. I have some skills, and some time. They have more skills and more time, but I end up beiing the one to come up with hare brained solutions. ( I was told this is not how to do the lips -- not something they had done before on stock fenders -- but it is what I decided on wanted, so I just did them this way and handed the finishing touched off to them. I love the doing the creative parts of these projects that stump other people, and I love being able to tag out when I run out of time or skills

Here we go exploring up top.

This car was already apart when I found it. As I did my own amateur pre-purchase inspection, I was encouraged to see the solid parcel tray, but at this point I want to make sure nothing is hiding under that red paint.

One of the things I was very concerned about when shopping for a car was hidden rust from typical leaks in the lower corners of the windshield and rear window.

Other cars that I had seen also had dash areas that had disintegrated under teh dash pad from leaking windshields.

Here is what we found on mine. Pretty minor, but it goes to show that you should expect something in these areas.

I think I got lucky and am glad we checked before repainting.

This picture actually marks a pretty sad moment for me in this car's life, and in the progress of this project.

If you remember my original belief about there being three types of these cars,

1 Ones that have to be taken apart
2 Ones that are already apart
3 Ones that have recently been put back together.

...and of course, 1s that are disguised as 3s (like this car was when the previous owner got it back from paint), then you might be able to guess why I find this a sad moment.

Sad moment because this is the last time I or anyone else will absolutely know for sure that this car is solid and no hidden surprises.

After this it becomes my assertion along with some supporting evidence that it was once solid.

Meanwhile it may begin trying to return to the earth once again.

It's sad to know that, and I'm almost unwilling to cover it all up again... Almost.

LOL...wayner you crack me up... :-)

What color are you going to paint that fat tub...?? I see no reason to stick with what ever its original color was since the car is not original any longer & does not have the original engine a/o trans...

MANY cool colors to choose from... Greys to jelly bean colors to classic silver...

Whats next on the car...??

How appropriate...

Actually, that is just epoxy primer, (black that is actually more of a grey with with some sort of purplish blue tinge for some reason)??

Should have thinned it more so it would flow better.
oh well, still have to put on the high build stuff and block sand.

Haven't touched the bumpers yet so they still have to be fitted properly and primed.

Interesting look though, even if it was unintentional

OK, it's getting boring waiting for paint to dry.

Time for another exciting story from the big book!

OK, That is NOT Kirby's dyno room.

Note to self:
(I wonder why would he want me to tell him that if he just saw it when he visited Chris. Very odd...)

I'm in denial, and hope to stay that way.
