ok, thanks for the help. i think i have all the wiring worked out.

I just started the car up a couple of times and the first time, the engine would idle at 2k rpms, and then drop down to 450 rpms, and then go back up to 2k, and this kept happening. the next times i tried, it would just start up straight to 2500 rpms, and then drop within a second or two to 450 rpms, where it would stay with the flapper popping open every couple seconds

from what i know, i would say these are the symptoms of running lean, but even when i turn the idle screw out, nothing happens, which makes me wonder if one of the components in the fuel system is broken. i do happen to have the fuel pressure testing gauge, so i will go through all the tests and post the results.

The hunting idle is from an air leak. Most likely this will go away once it is all warmed up and connections expand.

The the fuel mixture with Allen wrench adjustment and idle speed screw are two different things. You might know that already, but your post is a little jumbled and I cannot tell.

Yes, very odd that the idle speed screw (with big spring behind it) does nothing. I don't know what to make of that.

wait, is the flathead screwdriver on the left side of the throttle the peed screw or the mixture? and where is the allen screw you speak of, and what does that do?

ok, well, i figured those questions out by looking around. as for the huntung idle, io cant get the engine running long enough to heat it up. i think there is a lack of gas to the engine, so either the pump is not cranking at full power, of the fuel filter is clogged, of the accumulator is bad, or the injectors are clogged.

when checking fuel pressure with the gauge, do you run the engine, or just the pump? if you just run the pump, how do you get just the pump running?
