3" and 3.5" struts?

I understand there are two different size struts that came on the 74-89 911? At what point do you measure the width? I have a strut assembly from an 86 cab would that be a 3.5"? They are BOGE.

Thank you in advance.

John

It's the brake mounting that determines the strut -

if they are 1986 - then they will be 3.5"

Ohhh. Okay, that makes more sense. I couldn't figure what was 3" or even 3.5". Thanks JeremyD.
