a new addition to the family.
bought in Hope B.C. yesterday, got dropped off today. '67 912. good body, only rust seems to be pass door and a couple of spots in the floor pans. four speed ( would make a wicked drag racing tranny
) runs very well, brakes shot. deep sixes. receipts from day one. I have most of the bits to get it back to stock laying around. I do love the swb cars. I wouldn't mind keeping this one stock. I keep repeating to myself.............. I WILL NOT HOT-ROD THIS CAR! I WILL NOT HOT-ROD THIS CAR! I WILL NOT HOT-ROD THIS CAR! ps. gotta love that Paris-Dakar ride height. not sure what's goin' on there. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() so what do you keep behind the engine? tools? luggage? lunch? ![]() pretty decent underneath. ![]() ![]() and...a complete mystery to me. rebuilding a 911 engine is no problem, but I literally don't even know how to check the oil in this thing. 95hp! should be quite the adrenaline rush.

Nice! lower it a bit and leave it alone
![]() That engine reminds me of my 914 that I miss so much. Very easy to work on

Leave it alone so you know how they came from the factory before they got hot rodded!

That is an exceptional 912 -good find. Lower that baby (reasonably) and address the leaking oil, rust and then drive it.

Love the car. But how long can you hold off modifiying after smart cars are challenging your Porsche at redlights? You know its a 911 with 95 hp but to them, they just beat an exotic car!

Tough one. It seems like a very nicely kept car (especially with the paperwork) that deserves to be preserved. But it certainly doesn't seem like your cup of tea. Find one of the many 'updated' sad cases to turn into your next dragster.

But soon as he does that, it loses it's classic appeal and becomes just another boring rodded 911. Simple Green and a power wash is all she needs. Last edited by stlrj; 08-31-2011 at 06:43 AM.. |

It needs to be in a museum or, at least, to be placed on a rotating pedestal in a casino.

thanks for the comments. I really will keep this one stock. it's a pretty nice car. although I might find a five speed so I can use this four speed in my hot rod. early 911/912's are a ridiculous bargain these days. as a bodyman/painter I hate the upkeep of a black car but I have to admit, it does show off the body lines of the car awfully nicely. the brakes need a complete rebuild but that's pretty easy/cheap. . |

You done good...did you pull the hood emblem so it won't get 'borrowed'? There may come a day when I'll sell my REAL nice old one if you need/want it. That car deserves a fine one. Congrats.....

I'd like to know if 912's are really "bargain basement" prices up there. What I'm seeing down here is that 912's are starting to ask premium prices, especially in mint stock condition.

it was repainted in the 80's. some genius must have replaced the old faded emblem with a nice shiny one!one 'dragster' is enough. I would like to swap out the four speed though. final drive ratio is the same as on the five speed, and with the my torque in the blue car I don't really need 5 speeds.
