new go-fast goodies for the SWB, hee, hee. hee
OK, to be clear, this car is a complete b*stard so I figure anything goes at this point. a lot of you are familiar with the car but here are some previous threads to give you an idea what I'm doing with/to this thing.....................
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/502996-3-0-dyno-day-pleasant-surprise.html http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/540300-took-my-swb-drag-racing-today.html http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/565014-well-least-didnt-go-boom-bang-bang-bang.html http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/553950-went-autocrssing-today-my-swb.html http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/613226-weighed-swb-today-1892-lbs.html and so on, and so on..... here's my latest pending addition to the grin factor. hoping to have it up and running before the last drag race of the season Oct 2. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1315263523.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1315263568.jpg it's sort of like walking softly but carrying a big stick. and anyway, I don't HAVE to use it. let the flaming begin! ;) . |
Wooha!
Now that could be serious fun :) Couple of questions: Is that fuel and nox lines on the manifolds? What will the power increase be: 50hp, 75 or 100hp? Are the bottom ends and rods able to handle the 50-100 hp shots? The 915 can handle 350+ so no worries there right? Finally, got video? ;). |
ought to be fun......for a few seconds anyway.
|
That looks like a well set up nitrous kit. The plumbing of the intakes is the best way to inject the mixture.
One caveat with "juice"- Be sure you have enough fuel pressure to properly mix with the nitrous. I had a small block Chevy with a 250HP plate system that was a hoot to have on hand. :) |
I want to see a super charger + a turbo + the NOS....
|
it's a wet set-up, sprays nos and fuel. I'll use my trusty 3.0 as a test bed. the smallest jets it comes with are 90, I'd like to go down to 50-70. bottom end is fairly fresh with ARP bolts, should be ok if I keep it somewhat conservative. I'll probably put on my IDS carbs as well, the high-speed enrichment circuit can't hurt.
John, don't be a pessimist ;) . maybe it'll be fine  that engine's lasted longer than I had any right to expect. Quote:

can't find my "LIKE" button!

Don,
I saw that setup for sale...............it did make me pause and smile for a moment.......I can't wait to see how this works...going to the drags? Regards, Al |

Looks like Don's pumped up over this. I'm going to try to get it packaged up & off to him ASAP so he can get it in & have time to do any problem solving if necessary. I hope he has fun with it. After all, that's what it's all about.

thank for everything Marv. got the manual, it was sitting at the brokers. work proceeding nicely. after checking the jets, I found out it's been set up for a 90 hp shot, perfect. I've only got a month or so of driving left this season so I was going to just kind of stick it all in there to try it out but my anal side took over. built a rack to hold the components, it'll mount to the firewall in front of the engine. the bottle will mount to an aluminum plate that takes the place of the smuggler's box lid. the tank is out getting certified and filled. all this extra weight is killing me! 9 days till the drag race.

Way cool Don................this should surprise a few folks at the drags..............or maybe on the way to the drags..........
Al |
Your going to need a longer wheelbase :)
|
might need to widen the fenders.... and the tires. :)
|
progressing. hoping to get the bottle back this weekend.

That back shelf has the evil mad scientist written all over it :D
|
Nice setup. It should provide quite a few grins and giggles.
I was listening to some of your videos of the car auto-crossing and really like the deep growl of the engine. I note you mentioned it has a Bursch exhaust. Is it this style, with the glass packs or a different style? http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a...ob1/bursch.jpg Thanks |
Don,
the plumbing is very tidy and purposeful looking. I really like the DIY aspect of this approach. Very cool. While others are wringing their hands over if, why and what/WTF....you're just doing it. Why not??......it's supposed to be fun, isn't it? The best thing that we can do is amuse ourselves....doing what we want. I will look for the mushroom cloud to the North/NE. forward, al |
