Help opening front trunk lid.
Need some ideas on how to get into the trunk when the cable for the latch has come off.
Thx in advance. |

Usually you pull the bumper and their should be some access ports.

If you're in a 911, I don't know off the top of my head, but I believe 964s have an emergency release cable way up at the front of the fender well, behind the bumper.

If it is an SC the Bentley book describes a procedure if the cable is broken: Behind the rubber molding drill a hole through the bumper in a certain place and stick a wire into it. That's what I remember seeing there.

It should open it self when the cable is broken. It's probably stuck because of old grease / dirt. Try to get some wd40 in and push the trunk a few times.

Try pushing down firmly and moving the lid left and right at the same time as much as you can with pressure from your hands. The latch is designed to fail open when the cable breaks.
