Like I said, so nice to know if I should disappear one day, the PP guys would notice right away!
![]() Sad news about my dad's 911. I will post an update later. I don't have a "sit-down" job and I hate typing on my phone. Thanks for wondering and "pining" for me! ![]() |

You can leave me in the dust with only your white sneakers, no Turbo required. My car is a non runner at the moment. (halfway through a slow rebuild)
Just for the record, I'm wearing white sneakers right now. (no pink though. ![]()

So what is the story Tweez, Did your Dad say no its mine, and you can't have it?
I think that you said he is out of the country? Or some how out of the picture. But what he doesn't want to share? And where are the pics of the car, maybe it's not all that any way. Has it been parked for a long time? Cheers Richard Last edited by tevake; 07-07-2011 at 08:02 AM.. |

So sorry, I just read back thru your OP and came to the part where you explained the situation, Bummer. But perhaps for the best right now. There are other cars out there and lots of fun to be had learning about them before taking on a big rebuild. After your mom sees how serious you are maybe she will come around about your Dad's car.
I bet there will be a lot of help for you in the search for your own first porsche! Cheers Richard |

In fact why don't you just post up the specs of what you want to find and get the search going right now? Lots of folks here are aware of your situation now and would be glad to keep an eye out for your first porsche. It can't take long with a BBS world wide search under way. Let us know what you want and the search will be on!

Sorry to read your story. tweezers. I have an equally sad one along the same line. A good friend, and co-worker, of my wife has a 1957 356 A sitting in his garage, and it's been there, unmoved, for more than twenty-five years. The friend honeymooned in the car, and he and his wife shared it until it was parked (reason unknown).
The friend has been to my house, has watched me work on P-car projects in my garage, and appreciates what I do. He has had people actually nudge (push) him to have the car towed to my house so I can get it running, at the least, or spearhead a restoration, at the most (he knows my history with 356s). I have talked with people who have seen the car, kind of, as it sits dormant, with stuff piled high on its roof, and all the way around its body. Fortunately it has always been inside, but still it sits. The friend is now in the process of getting divorced, and has said nothing about his car. I can't explain this, and the friend won't offer an explanation. Sad.

Glad to see that you are moving thru the temporary set back with your Dad's 911. I am admiring your spirit, and enjoy your sense of humor. Its good to have you with us.
Maybe you should consider looking for a 1970 / 73 911. That way most of what you learn will transfer to your dad's car. Also any parts that you accumulate will serve both cars. Ask me how I know. My cars 1980 911 coupe, 1980 911 targa project car, bought out of 11 years in storage. In some cases I have needed to replace parts on the targa, but put the new parts on the coupe (my keeper) and swapped the good used parts to the targa. Just wait till you get to check out some of the fantastically restored long hoods in So Cal. That is why I recommended that you try to get to cars and coffee, there are usually many very inspiring Porsches there. Check these out. ![]() ![]() ![]() http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads18/DSCF13301310284925.jpg[/img] Can't help but include a pic of my SC here in Kauai. Unless the car is given to you, or if you are willing to do a lot of rust repair, a longhood is probably out of your price range. I would do a backdate on a Carrera, stripping the car out to be nearly as light as the longhood.
Check out prices here if you dare: Early 911S Registry
