Source for NOS Carrera script for '87?
I need a new Carrera script for my rear deck lid of my '87 Carrera. After calling around, I found that the scripts that are for sale at Pelican Parts, Performance Parts, Tweeks, etc. are all >1990 scripts, which are fine, but they're a bit smaller than the '84-'89 scripts, which are no longer available from Porsche. Before I go with the smaller new script, does anyone know of a source of a NOS (new old stock) '84-'89 script, or perhaps a used one?
Thanks, Will P.S. Yes, I searched the archives. |

You could try http://************* or any of the used parts places (20th st. Auto, PAP, Partsheaven).
Then there's also the possibility of finding one at Hershey... I have the badge delete option on my car. ![]()

I mentioned this a while back (that original size no longer available) but Kurt B claims that PP has the correct size in stock.

Dan, I called Stoddard to no avail. I'll try the others you mention.
Chris, I did see that thread. Kurt B. said he found the right scripts at PP, but I called them and they said they didn't have the original style scripts, that they were the new 1990+ scripts, and that the old ones hadn't been available "for a couple of years". I'll keep trying and let you know if I find them. Cheers, Will |

Will,
I'm going to make my own script (it won't say "Carrera"). ![]() Chris |

I am positive they will have some at hershey, that is where i got a NOS one last year. I think they run between $15-$25 depending on what kind of deals you can find. I would pick one up for ya if I was going, but i don't think I can make it this year.

Perf prod has them. Call, give them the year, and they'll tell you. I's the right size--I just got one a month or so ago from them ....I guess we need to stock up on those.

I broke a piece of the "C" while wiping the car after a wash. Does the script just glue on, or are there holes in the hood? I like the idea of painting the script on, but don't want to mess with filling holes.

Ilan, The rear Carrera script is held on with some sort of double sided tape. I have been told that to remove the whole thing, alls you do is sort if saw it off with a piece of fishing line between the paintwork and the badge. You can then clean off the remaining gunge with bug/tar remover and apply a new one. My "C" is busted also. I like the idea of the sticker type badges too as kids cannot "scalp" your car for them in parking lots, scratching your duco in the process. There is also a sticker Porsche crest available for the front hood. These where available for the Carrera CS model in '89 so you should still be able to get them as OEM. You could fill the holes from the inside and place the sticker over them so there is no need to repaint. If for some reason you wanted to go back to the full badge, just drill the filler our of the holes. I have been thinking about doing this for a while. Oh yeah and it's lightweight too!

Kurt B. - thanks. I called Performance Products this morning, but they said they absolutely don't have the script for the '84-'89 Carreras and haven't had them for a while. Obviously, I need to call again and get a different salesperson!
On the other hand, Alan's offer of a free Carrera script obviates the need for more phone work! Hats off to this generous man. Alan, I just sent you my e-mail address. Thanks, everyone. Will |

No thanks needed. While I have been restoring My Carrera 3.0 for the last 2 years, many people have done the same for me. Like Jerry Austin in South China, maine who sent me his entire interior from his '84 Carrera for just $700! And I mean everything including the screws and carpet. So I feel the least I can do is pass the favors on.

The script is glued on - no holes. It surprises me to learn that the 84-89 "Carrera" emblem is no longer available. I bought one from an official Porsche dealer in may 2000 and he got it straight from Porsche AG in Stuttgart. It must be a fairly new thing that these scripts aren't available? I still have my old "Carrera" script. It now serves as wall decoration ![]() |

I'm mailing my original one out today to a guy in Canada, so I don't have any extras handy unfortunately. Maybe I just bought one of the last few of those.
