Black is the normal color of Boge but struts can be painted. On my 944 & 914, the Boge struts had "Boge" stamped into the metal, near the bottom. It can be a very faint stamping and hard to see but I would look for this (or try and feel for this on the backside) just to be sure.

Clean the road grime off the strut and look for the word BOGE stamped on it. Tidy is correct in that Boges are black or grey but any strut can be made black. I put Bilstein inserts into my 68 because the Boges are no longer available for SWB. I'm please with those just be sure to check for foreign objects inside the tube and whether your application needs a spacer or not

Green is Bilstein but can use a Koni insert.....black is usually Boge.
