Window Regulator
My 76 912 's passenger window cranked with no movement of the window. Is the regulator pivot the usual suspect? Have the spring out and the pivot appears to be missing a piece for it's end. Is this what holds the spring in place? Have tried to remove the crank assembly w/o taking out the window frame etc. Any other ideas, and why were there so many different sizes of pivots. Mine appears to be 26mm. Does anyone possess a step by step with pictures?

Are you sure that is the problem? Most people including myself have issues with the Frame rail at the Bottom coming loose from the Glass.

Hi OKC and Welcome - shoot us a pic of your when you get a chance.
I only know my 87 and it has a motor driven regulator, so I'll take a shot at giving you an admittedly half-a$$ed answer. Verify the situation that Mr. Hill mentions. There is one pivot that holds the spring at the center (purchase-able), and some other unidentified white metal pivot-like part that acts to keep tension on the spring (I made mine). If you google pelican, 911 and pivot, you might come up with some images. There are some technical articles on this site Pelican Parts - 911 Technical Articles that might help. You might even find something of use on youtube. Being motor driven, I found info here to help me, but I never searched for the manual variety. If you can strip everything out, I'd recommend giving it all a good cleaning, compare to your other working side to see what's up, then lube with dry-lube (moly) and white lithium/re-assy. You may have to search here a bit for some info, or pls be patient and you might get a considered response for your MY. hth

I just replaced my pass side pivot pin on my 76 911S with manual windows. It wasn't too bad to do.It's basically four 5mm hex head bolts around the crank. Now mine is a Targa but I think it can't be different for a Coupe.Once I removed the door panel I put the handle back on loosely without securing it and rolled the window down to see where the arm connected to the channel below the glass. If you look you will notice that towards the front of the slider is a hole to allow the regulator to disengage from the window. There is two sliders on mine one easily viewable from the lower door opening and one more forward and slightly harder to see.Once I knew what I needed to do I unbolted the four reg. bolts I popped out the regulator and let it slide down. With the glass still attached to the regulator I moved the glass up a bit with my hand and moved the regulator to the front of the sliders and reached in and popped it out of the slider making sure I also popped out the front one too.You can look threw the holes above the crank opening to get a bit of a better view.Once the regulator is unattached from the window lift the glass up and myself I blocked it with a piece of wood near the rear of the door to make sure I didn't block the opening to get the regulator out. With the Targa there was a bolt that allowed you to adjust the front window track, now I took this out before removing the regulator bolts as it needed to be movable to allow the exiting of the regulator.Yours may have one also. Well hopefully its out and now it's time to clean inspect and most likely change the pivot pin.Take a look at the pin,Mine was a 26mm parallel pin.Which means the slot in the pin looks like this

Hi:
You do not need to remove the window frame only the regulator. If it is your pivot pin, they come in 4 flavors and you will need to look at your to figure out which one you will need. You will need to remove the door card and regulator to figure out what you need to do. It is not hard (I have done both of mine). This article tells you how to remove the door card: Pelican Technical Article: 911 door panel remove This article tells you how to remove your window regulator: Pelican Technical Article: 911 Window Regulator Replacement Some Threads on Pivot Pins: Argh!!! Window Regulator Frustration Part found inside driver door - What is it? Window Regulator Pivot Pin There are lots more as well if you do a search.

Thanks to all who replied. My pin is out and it appears to be 26mm and parallel for the most part. It has a hole in the end; was there a piece attached to the hole? I did not find it in the door. By the way, what exactly fails when you need to replace the pin. Thanks, Coop

There may be nothing in the hole at the end of the pivot pin.
Typically the pin fails to hold the spring and hte two parts of the regulator together. If the slot inthe pin is parallel to the cut out end, then you need this part: ![]() Pelican Parts - Product Information: PEL-910393 Otherwise, you will need this part: ![]() Pelican Parts - Product Information: PEL-910394
