And the good news is: when you hopelessly cross thread the mount, you can repair it with a Helicoil. Many, many 911s have at least one of these repairs to this area.
I don't recall that these are a non-standard thread, though. Otherwise Helicoils would be hard to come by. Or replacement bolts, which I have purchased. You need to repeat the mantra: it came out OK, so it should go in OK, so I will, under no circumstances, apply any real torque to get the bolt started. Easy to say. Frustrating to put into practice. |
