Question Can you use a SC Bleeder Valve on a 3.2?

Okay Fellas,

3.2 Front Caliper Bleed Valves are only available from Germany PAG, kinda want not to have to wait :-(

Has anyone tried to use SC valves on a 3.2?

TIA,

Jim

Hi Jim,
The 3.2 caliper is the same as an SC except that there is a spacer inserted between the two halves to allow for thicker discs so the bleed nipples should be the same

PP lists the same Speed Bleeder valve for both 78-83 and 84-89 front calipers (A and wide-A): Porsche 911 & Carrera Brake Hydraulics - Page 1

Useful parts interchange summary, too:

-- 'M' Front & Rear brake calipers are made of Steel and have approximately a 3 inch, center to center, bolt spacing. These were used as front calipers up until early 1975.

-- 'S' Front brake calipers are made of Aluminum and have approx. a 3 1/2 inch, center to center, bolt spacing. These were used on some 911s and all 911 Turbos between 1974 and 1977.

-- 'A' Front brake calipers are made of Steel and have approx. a 3 1/2 inch, center to center, bolt spacing. These were used on many mid-70s 911s and practically all 911SCs. Beginning in 1984, the Carrera used wider versions of 911SC calipers - the 'wide A' and 'wide M'.

Oh very Cool Flat Six!

Okay, if I am reading correctly:

OEM Standard Bleeder Valves are:

911-351-919-01-OEM Bleeder Valve, front 'A' caliper (sold per each), 911 (late 1975-83)

911-351-919-02-OEM Bleeder Valve, front caliper (sold per each), 911 Carrera (1984-89)

Then if you read the Speed Bleeder Valve Specs, it should match:

Speed Bleeder Valves, "A" Front Caliper (sold per pair, one valve per caliper)
Front 911 (late 1975-89)

I will post my findings,

Jim

When you say 3.2 bleeder, do you include my 88 bleeder too? If so, I think I have one extra, brand new. If you are ok with used, then I think I have an old one too. Let me know, I'll look for them.

Thanks Rnln,

I actually order the front SC valve and new Carrera 3.2 84-89 rear valves, new.

According to the Speed Valve Specs for their front speed valves it is for 75-89 so I am hoping the SC OEM valves will be the same OD and pitch as the 3.2 Carrera valves.

Jim

Update:

The answer is weird YES on my 3.2:

911-351-919-01 will fit on both Front and Rear Calipers on my '85 3.2, Does this mean POs or Retard Wrench threaded in a front bleeder valves on my rear calipers? But Why???

The spec on the 911-351-919-01 are 8MM OD thread with 9MM Hex plus Rubber Cap included

Strangely enough, PAG spec calls for 901-352-977-10 on rears but it is way too small in OD to fit in the rear calipers on my 3.2 Also looking at the PAG numbers for the front 911-351-919-02 with out cap

Has anyone else experienced this???
