2001 Porsche GT3 Cup ODB2 questions
Does anyone know the update frequency for the RPM and Temp outputs on the early GT3 Cup ODBII ports?
I'm thinking of using the Racepak ODBII sensor module but they are concerned that the update frequency may not be often enough to make it useful. Has anyone use the ODBII module with an early GT3 Cup?

AFAIK the early Cups used Bosch MS3.1 and then 3.2 for the '02 Cups the specs for MS3.1 are proprietary and the manuals all just say to return to Bosch for service and updates, data analysis is done w/ a Bosch supplied program WINDARAB again it's purchased from Bosch Motorsport

here's the 2002 info Bosch MS 3.1 Electronic Electronic Control Systems The 911 GT 3 RS is fitted with an MS 3.1system. The Bosch MS 3.1 is developed specifically for motorsport. The Bosch MS 3.1 engine control unit is located in the right rear seat well. It is not possible to change the ‘E-Prom’, because the Bosch MS 3.1 is a hybrid unit that can only be programmed by using a special software programme. Exclusively, Porsche carries out any programming. Bosch MODAS MODAS is an application tool that can represent measured and adjustable variables through different user interfaces such as parameters and graphs. It was developed to enable the fast retrieval of standard measured values and the alteration of the most important adjustable values at the vehicle. System requirements: PC System - minimum requirements WINDOWS 95 / 98 (no NT) 64 MB RAM 233MHz processor clock frequency 4 Gigabyte hard disc drive Parallel port interface CD–Rom drive To prevent damage, the engine control unit must not be opened. Unauthorised opening can be proven. the 200GT3R uses M3.1 and has the same system requirements as the '02 Cup & RS but used the WINDARAB program for data acquisition. I don't believe that either is OBD2 compliant, it would be very surprising if any Cup was OBD anything compliant as those were US gov't requirements for street cars.

There's very little eng info at the obd2 plug. I have the wiring diagrams for that car they're in German but you can figure it out. PM me your email and I'll send them to you

THe wiring diagrams should be very helpful. Thanks Dan!
I'm not really trying to log most data, honestly I'm still so busy trying to learn driving the new car which is very different than the older chassis, and figuring out 3-way adjustable JRZ's and new suspension settings, analyzing that level of data is, well, secondary. What I'm really trying to do is use the IQ3 Dash which I've had and gotten used to for a few years, and gather basic input for warning lights plus shift lights. The darn thing revs so fast you can hit that limiter without even thinking about it. Water temp, RPM's, and oil-pressure. The car already has a water temp warning light so even that's not necessary, I like to have a "warm up" light though, so I can tell when it's ready to roll. RPM I can grab elsewhere... However oil-pressure(!) would be really nice, there is no warning light for that right now which seems a little weird...
