Pointer to a shift bar adjuster
I've got a Fabcar shifter on my RSR track car.
The rod goes into a coupler that just doesn't seem to hold its position very well and I either loose my front half gears or my rear half gears. It's not hard to pull it reset and replace -- but it's not easy either. I'd like to find a rod that replaces mine that has an in cockpit adjustment for the length of the rod. any pointers to such a thing. thanks, Mike

Mike - I don't think there are many guys out there fortunate enough to have Fabcar parts on their cars. I don't know how Fabcar connects to the transmission.
You might look at whatever it is Hargett does - his shifter has the rod above the tunnel also, does it not? WEVO makes a stouter clamp to hold the stock connector to the semi-splined rod, based on having seen the stock clamp lose its clamping force (though that hasn't happened to me and mine). No doubt you have noted the designs which adjust length with shims and fixed plates, with no clamping needed beyond what holds the bolts together. Ought to be duck soup to fabricate or add with an above the tunnel system? |

Thanks for the info -- exactly what I am looking for.
Just a few of the teething pains of getting the car back on the track. Makes it harder since on the track is the only time you can find these things and debug gets a little crazy with limited track time, tools, knowledge :-) The whole race car is way over my head both on and off the track -- but what a toy! The fabcar rod is above the tunnel -- however there is an overpass right at the point of adjustment. So to adjust it, I have to pull the whole rod and do a trial and error approach. On top of that it tends to slip so I'll check out your suggestions and maybe we can move the point to which it gets adjusted. thanks for the suggestions, mike ![]()
