Congrats OP!

Marc, in your case it looks like a short in the tail light assembly. You see the the backing on the light sockets are lien to a PCB, a thin brittle plastic that over time and too much force will snap and as a result will short when the loose connection touches the housing. If you checked everything else, it may be time to look behind the assembly which requires you to remove it.

I fixed mine by gluing a piece of plastic onto mine to reinforce it, while I was in there I tightened up all the loose sockets, using a ratchet wrench extension and a hammer.

Jim

I had a blown fuse issue, blown bulb and finally I replaced the flasher unit (I replaced the original thermal 550 with an EL-13). When I remove the whole front right turn signal assembly from the chassis, the turn signal works; when I screw it back on it seems to short... I can't see where the wires could be broken and touch the chassis (which is fully painted anyways) !

I've been reading the different posts and it seems the following items should be checked:
-Broken wires creating a short-circuit;
-Fuses;
-Flasher relay;
-Steering column switches;
-Backup light switch;

My car was originally a 912 converted to 911 (engine, transmission and body work). I've downloaded a wiring diagram for the 912 and there seems to be a relay after the flasher unit ?!
Any other clues ?

Thanks,

Marc-André.

The front screw on the turn signal housing is causing the short-circuit; when I remove it, the light flashes properly... This means I have a short-circuit within the housing ???

Mystery solved; some "comedian" had swapped the ground and positive wires... Found out by using my multimeter! This is what was causing those burnt fuses, blown relay,...
