Way overdue intro here....

Hello all,

Some of you may know me from the "SC ticking time bomb" thread when I was searching for my first 911 and was curious about all of what I was hearing about 911 and Porshces in general...I think I stirred the pot a bit!

Well, after a lot of great help from the Porsche community and this forum, I pulled the trigger last May on a 1985 Carrera Targa. It came to the US through Hillsboro, OR (ironically, where I now live) and spent it's life up in Seattle being lovingly cared for by University Motors and then John Walker by a couple of true enthusiasts. I am the 3rd owner, and likely the last.

I have wanted a 911 since in high school (when mine was actually new), and have owned many sports cars along the way, but always was searching for the right time and the right car. Honestly, I was extremely intimidated by 911s, fearing I would fly off the road backward, or go broke fixing it when it broke down all of the time.

I credit this forum and the great Porsche community in general for llifting the fog and the myth that surrounds these unique but wonderful machines. My only regret is that I waited so lonng, but in the end, it was just my time to do it when I did it. No regrets.

So far I have tinkered around with it and had an absolute blast driving it. It has 137k on it so far, and it leaks a little oil, the paint (Meteor Grey...love it!) has some rock chips, but overall it is in pretty nice shape. No concours by ANY stretch, but a great, solid driver. It's a 911, it's mine, so it's perfect.

I have a long list of things I will be doing to it, but I will try and maintain it's stock apperance..love the 16" Fuchs, the stance (it's a bit lowered), the lines (no tail for me, but to each his own), mainly upgrading as things wear or break, and improving the overall function of the car...delrin this, polybronze that...

Anyway, I just wanted to formally introduce myself to the group. I have been lurking around an chiming in, but had yet (I think) to really say "hello". It's truly a pleasure to be a part of all of this.

John (TWOZTER)

Pic below, right after I got her home from Washington. Have added euro tails since then.

Welcome TWOZTER !

Awesome first Porsche. It is certainly worth taking your time to finding the right one. Once you get the bug it never goes away.

First one is May 12th. Hope to see you there!

BTW, I had a similar 911 a few years back...

Cheers,

Paul.

Beautiful car! I was (am) a lot like you. Graduated HS in '85 and remember going to Rusnak Porsche in Pasadena, CA and dreaming. I pulled the trigger about ten years ago on my (now gone) 911SC. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Welcome aboard!
