Zenith rebuild help

Hi Guys hoping for a little help, I am in the middle of an attempt at rebuilding
the zenith's on my 73T 2.4
I am following a post from "A Quiet Boom" and I thank him very much as I would
not attempt without the guidance like this from this forum.
Anyway doing the drivers side first and I removed the squirters and when I turned
it upside down to shake out the check valves the one in the middle is brass and
looks like a screw with no thread like it should but the two out side ones were
two approx 5 mm s/s ball bearings.
So either the bearings fell out of another hole or someone subbed these in place of
the original check valves??
Any thoughts or advise?
Thanks in advance
Mike

The little "brass screw w/o the slot" that fell out is a check valve and the ball bearings are probably an adequate alternate.

Thanks 1QuikS that's what I figured other than the popping the engine
seems to run ok.
Does anyone know if the brass screw like check valves are still available?
Thanks
Mike

Also Paul you made note of the "screw with out a slot" and the one that
fell out has know threads but it has a slot on both top and bottom and
the direction of the slot is opposite each other.
Thanks
Mike

Direction of the slot not important, the piece just drops into the bottom of the well; my mistake regarding the slots.

There is a seller on eBay that sells Zenith parts; he is "alfa1750" and is in Italy. I buy from him as do many others.

I might have another check valve.....I have one spare Zenith for parts. Just mailed the same part to a Pelican member in Portland last month.

thanks Bob but looks like I'm missing two in this carb and I haven't taken the
passenger side carb apart yet as i'm using it as my pattern for when I put the
first one hopefully back together.
Guess I better at least take the top half off and see how many I will need.
Thanks very much for the help guys
Mike

Yes thanks Bob I have been using that site as well and I think I have printed off half
of that site its good reference material for identifying the bits and pieces.
