Parts Sources

I have searched our host supplier's listings for parts such as accelerator cable, vacuum hose (bulk) and find nothing listed. Am I not conducting a correct search or are there other suppliers that carry these parts. Possibly I am not using the correct description for these parts.

Thanks,
Jim

If you have a 64-97 911 you can quit looking for an accelerator cable as those years use rod/linkage setups.

As far as bulk vacuum hose I would check my local store for what you need. Nothing against Pelican but I don't see bulk hose listed.

What year/model vehicle are you working on?

What part of the accelerator linkage do you need?

Jim,
You should download the parts catalog in pdf form and then you can enter the part numbers to search for what you need here at Pelican.
Pick your car and year and then save the pdf to your computer:

Or go to *********** and look up the part on their schematics, grab the part number, search on pelican and 9 out of 10 times they will have it.

Jim

Here is a link to the PET for your car (1978-1983). http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/originalparts/usa/911_USA_78_83_KATALOG.PDF

Its over 800 pages but its worth it to look at all the diagram to familiarizes your self with the car. If you don't find the part were you expected it, it's in another chapter.

If you don't have the Bentley Book for your car yet, they come up quite often at around $60.

Have Fun

JJ

P.S. Just notice that Dennis was pointing you to the catalog

Thanks again to all who replied and know that I have accessed the parts listings and yes I received the Bentley on Friday. I am going to need to post some pics in the next few days because my car does have an accelerator cable, even though apparently it should just be controlled by "linkage" A cable extrends from the lower left front (foward) of the engine, curves to the upper rear of the engine, attaches to a bracket and then to the throttle assembly. Boy am I confused now! I don't want to be a PITA, so maybe a pic will explain what I'm referring to.

Always learning,
Jim

Is the cable you are refering to for the cruise control unit (does your car have cruise control)?

Yes Ronnie, it does have cruise control and that obviously is the cable. I really feel like a novice after being sure that it was the accelerator cable! Sorry that I'm still oriented to VWs and have so much to learn about Porsche.

You guys are great and thanks so much for having patience to explain the not so obvious make up of these great cars. Now, if I can find the clip that holds the cruise control cable to the bracket.....

I'm pleased to help! The only reason I know anything about this component is I have read threads about it on this forum (even though my 930 doesn't have cruise control) - it's fun to learn about the various versions of these cars!

Glad you were able to figure this out. My SC doesn't have cruise control so I didn't even think of that being a cable.

Welcome to Pelican, btw. With the Bentley manual and this forum you can pretty much tackle any task/repair you choose on your car.
