I would like to thank and acknowledge the help from countless Pelicans. Without your expert advice and steadfast encouragement this project would not have been possible. Special thanks to David (daves911L) and Peter (flacht) for all of your time, tools, expert skills, advice, encouragement, and parts. Special thanks also go out to my lovely wife who put up with all of the restoration madness. Thanks to everyone who in any way contributed to the rebirth of the Rat :)

Congratulations! What a transformation! What a beautiful "new" 1969 911! What amazing pictures! I followed your thread from the beginning and learned a lot. Thank you for keeping us posted throughout the "Rat" project! But when are you officially renaming it? It has ceased to be a "rat" quite some time ago.

Thanks so much for sharing this!! It reminds me so much of roads that I have followed in the past. I did the same for a 1971 911T in the early '80's. I still own it.
We even have a Jetta Sportwagon TDI for the wife's DD!!
Regards to you and your family.

Thanks Porwolf! It feels pretty cool to have a "new" 1969 911. I am glad that the thread has been educational. In terms of renaming the Rat I am not sure if that is going to happen. I think the name fits perfectly and renaming it would bypass its storied history in New Mexico. I also wouldn't want the Rat getting a huge ego and becoming high maintenance and vain with a new name like " Grey Ghost" or similar. ;) I think it will be easier for the Rat to stay grounded if it stays true to its roots:D I will however accept your nominations for a new name and if anything great comes up I will take it into consideration.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if anybody was going to notice my reflection in the pictures. If you lived in Florida you wouldn't be wearing a shirt this time of year either ;) I am not sure if your climate in Australia is similar but we currently have 35-40 C (90-100 F) degree temperatures with 100% humidity.
