similarity between carrera, SC, 3.2L case

I have amassed parts to build a hotrod 3.5L engine...

many parts are 3.2L like the crank, rods, heads

I was shopping for either SC or 3.2L cores...

can I use carrera engines to the search as well? will the parts fit?

I plan to get 98mm or 100mm pistons that fit on the SC/3.2L

I am wondering about the crank bearings...cylinder stud spacing etc...

thanks

MJ

oh and just out of sick curiosity what about the 2.7L (73-77)

no one???

also was wondering about piston and head pairs...

i have 3.2L heads that I am assuming have a combustion chamber matching a 98mm base

but if I decide to go with 100mm pistons doens't that not make for a good match for the cyl/piston and the heads?

Thanks

MJ

SC and Carrera cases are functionally equivilent AFIK. The switch to the later "Carrera" case occured in '83 so late '83 SC's have the Carrera (no sump plate) case.
I contemplated going to 100mm and was told that you don't use bored out Carrera cylinders, you have to use later ones. The case needs to be modified. I can't remember if the the heads need to be modified or not.

I know you don't want to use a 2.7 case for that big of pistons. BA states that 2.7 was about the max for those cases.
