1979 SC Paint code help?

I'm having a hard time determining the official paint color for my SC. I can tell it is grey and the tag reads (645-9-3) but 645 is not listed in any of the reference books/sites. Curious if might be a rare color or special order. any help is appreciated, thanks!

It's probably a custom color. Here's a discussion about my car on Rennlist.

thanks Mulholland911. i'm familiar with that list but my code wasn't on it. lots of good info though.

kyle242gt, i'll check out your link, thanks! curious to know if the custom color adds value? the interior is "lobster red" which could make for an interesting combo

I have a 1979 color chart- not seeing a grey other than "Dolomite Grey" that was a 924 color-Black Metallic was a real dark, dark grey in certain light -A photo would be helpful.

Hard to say if PTS adds value. Certainly it's cool, which is value enough for me.

Gray and red sounds like a great combo, let's see some pics!

645 is a new code for my database as well, a photo of the badge would be useful as would the VIN; PM is fine

a new search does come up with Dolomite Grey as 645, so it appears to be a good possibility.

Nice looking project you have there... I like the grey with the lobster red interior!

So what does the 9-3 after the paint code mean? Mine has the same thing... 895-9-3 on it.

My guess is 9-3 means PTS. But I seem to recall reading that these might be paint type or factory or somesuch....?
