Is this great news for Carrera's going MegaSquirt? Idle valve

In this link, I saw a picture of a Bosch idle valve that works like the Carrera's Idle Control Valve (ICV).

It looks different but the one shown is said to have the push/pull coils just like the Carrera version.

They claim the MS II v3.57 board will drive this!

Thoughts?

Sure, Just use a PWM output to drive the 3-wire IAV. Works well.

Just finished installing one on a friends 930-EFI conversion using the 3.2 intake.

Aw sweet, that is awesome news! I kept reading on the non-MSextra site that they recommend the Jeep 4.0 ICV and I just don't want that on my car.

jp and Trond, do you guys have good threads on MegaSquirt?

I'd like to see if I have my ducks in a row before pulling the trigger.

Thanks

Just do a search with username. There are a few threads on MS that I have been involved in. You might even find one with both our names in it.

Ditto that. Works like a charm. Just follow the instructions in the link you posted.

Awesome. I've been kind of dreading this for awhile.

Glen's Garage sells a board in kit form to use a single PWM channel like on MS2 to drive a 3-wire valve like the Bosch:

Glen's Garage

I actually bought and built one but ended up converting to MS3 before using it. The MS3 can drive a 3-wire PWM valve directly.

This 35-40 ohm, 50 watt resistor, where to locate?

Stupid question, but this has to be for 12V only, correct?

I saw one googling and it looked huge. Reminded me of a component for my brothers race car when he ran Mallory ignition.

I assume that one was for 110V.

Am I on the right track with one of these:

Mouser Electronics - Electronic Component Distributor Resistors

I assume the film ones are not high enough in voltage? Do I buy the wirewound ones?

I have excellent warmup idle control with my AAR right now and am upgrading to MS3 in the near future so I can run E-85 fuel I am also going to run a fuel sensor I think also but I was considering an ICV also to replace aging parts. I like seeing all these megasquirt threads a wealth of info to be had.

I have been using the idle air valve from the Triumph Speed Triple ITBs for my EFI kits. Works great with M'squirt. Excellent cold start and warm up.
